COMMERCIAL RECYCLING AT WCS DEPOT

Our WCS Depot accepts drop-off of large volumes of commercial recycling to help businesses sustainably handle product packaging and shipping materials generated regularly.

Accepted items, commercial depot rates, and how each material gets recycled:

Styrofoam (PS #6)

Polystyrene PS #6 Accepted

We accept clean PS #6 packing blocks for recycling.

Polystyrene (PS #6) is often referred to as "Styrofoam" which is a brand of PS, and will often have a faint/subtle resin code (recycling triangle symbol) noting "PS 6" on the bottom, side, or inside of the block. This material is often rigid and can be 'snapped in half'.

Snap Test: Can you snap a piece in half?

Drop-off Rates

$250 / truck load (up to 40 yds)
Ideal for 3-5 ton cube trucks, or roll-off dump trucks etc.

$30 / bulk bag (1 cubic yd)
Ideal for small businesses dropping off with a pickup truck or van. A cubic yard is about 3 ft x 3 ft x 3 ft.

How does it get recycled?

Styrofoam is notoriously resource-heavy to haul due to its airy & bulky nature. Being mostly air, we compact your styrofoam in our WCS Depot's very own commercial styrofoam densifier machine on-site. From there, it is sold to material partners & manufacturers to get turned into other packaging or products, saving precious virgin resources. Items that can be made from your styrofoam packing blocks include: Park benches, baseboards and crown molding, car bumpers, photo frames, and more!

PE Foam (PE #4)

Polyethelyne PE #4 Accepted

White or coloured PE foam is often described as shiny & squishy, but not spongy and not very dense.

Polyethelyne (PE #4) or Low-Density Polyethelyne (LDPE #4) will be marked with a resin code (recycling triangle symbol with the number"4" inside, and letters PE, LDPE, or PE-LD underneath).

Drop-off Rates

$35 / bulk bag (1 cubic yd)

How does it get recycled?

PE foam is often rejected or not accepted when mistaken for Styrofoam or PS #6. For a time, engineered fuel was the only option to keep this material out of landfills. We now however fully manage this material through recycling with a local material partner who collects, shreds, and then bales the material in Delta, B.C.. From there, it is sold to material partners & manufacturers to get turned into other packaging or products, saving precious virgin resources.

Soft Plastics

Clear Stretchable Soft Plastics Accepted

Clean & uncoloured stretchy soft plastics (such as transparent produce bags or furniture packaging) do not make a loud crinkly noise.

Thumb Test: Can you poke your thumb through the material or stretch the plastic with your hands? If yes this will likely fall under this category.

Drop-off Rates

$30 / bulk bag (1 cubic yd)

How does it get recycled?

Clear plastic is the most recyclable and widely preferred grade of soft plastics. Its uncoloured nature offers greater versatility, allowing manufacturers and producers to repurpose it into a broader range of products and packaging. Because of its high value and recyclability, it’s crucial to recover as much clear soft plastic as possible and keep it out of landfills.

To maximize its recycling potential, we collect clear soft plastics as a separate, dedicated stream. At our WCS Depot, we bale the material into dense, high-quality units, which are then sold to local material partners & manufacturers to be turned into new products and packaging.
